I bought this car a month and a half ago, because of course I needed another project car. This one runs and drives now though. Started with a '62 TR4, and a '95 Mustang GT, somewhat combined the two, and now I have a very light, problematically low traction car. I worked with these machines at a company in Cincinnati. They include command to load the memory with service programs that allow one to face the table completely with a face mill and also put the fish scale type finish back onto the table. The tools could be borrowed from their Fadal service rep. They used these machines for heavier parts requiring beefier cuts than the Haas machines they had. All of their Haas machines and Fadals were well maintained, including periodic replacement of lead screws, Belleville washers, table surfaces, spindle tram, and the removable Haas 4th axis rotary tables, in addition to dedicated Haas 4 axis horizontal machines, as well as several CNC lathes. I made a program that added the checksum byte at the end of a program to verify the proper loading of a CAD/CAM generated Cnc program. Otherwise your program would load from rs232 and it would run but wouldn’t respond after loading with the same message as one with the checksum. We were able to generate programs for P&G parts several megabytes in size that loaded over the RS232 connection in Xmodem mode that ran for over 14 hours of 3D milling. The Fadal buffered the moves using the dial up bulletin board file transfer technology and could run programs larger than any Haas machine could run until the advent of hard drives in Haas controls. Still with a hard drive in a control you are limited to the size of that particular drive. Using Xmodem you could run a program infinitely long, longer than a Haas can load now. That 1988 Fadal is a machine built from a casting, uses box ways, has coolant running through the ball screw to prevent thermal growth or contraction and isn’t afraid of chips, makes smoother finishes than a Haas with the same tools, speeds, feeds, program, and fixturing. This is because a Haas of the same size is a weldment, uses linear bearings, and doesn’t maintain tolerances as well due to a simple thermal estimation of ballscrew calibration, despite both having bidirectional error tables of their ballscrews. Congratulations on your purchase! I look forward to seeing parts come off it.

Head light wipers come on with the washers. I owned one of these new in the day, and now have owned another for 15 years that I bought with 140,000km on the clock, 245,000km. now. It has cost me very little, parts are not that expensive and mainly readily available, not that I have needed much. It is reliable, has a better ride than my LC 200, and owes me nothing. I would be confident to set out for Darwin 4000km away. From Australia.

How is your Logic Project coming along? A mechanical CPU is a long way away, but I don't need to tell you that. I like that you built some gates out of metal. I work mostly in wood. It is an obsessive quest. I have some designs that would help you, but I am not giving away the farm just yet. Most cars need computers too.

Fun and I guess you've got some $$$ but there are shops that do this rapid prototyping waaaaay quicker, waaaaay better, and can do things you can't. I found one (the only one on the planet) with an electron beam welder in a vacuum chamber that could make a single electron beam welded titanium monocoque for a car. When I spoke to one of their salesmen, they had just used that machine to makes fabricate a satellite for Lockheed Martin going into space that they were doing burst testing on. You want to draft your parts in SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or whatever and shoot it out to those people. We're talking Compacted Graphite Iron foundries (one I spoke with made CGI engines for NASCAR when they ran them), carbon fiber driveshafts, carbon fiber looms for doing monocoques and wheels, aluminum forging. Something to consider before spending $$$ on machines.

now you are expert at c and c, and computer stuff. i am a red seal electrician. Circa to 1962 I took my training. You should look up, Add-A-Phase, on the web. add a phase!! 4 months...youv'e already done this.... add a phase (a capacitor and a inductor) now it's not the stuff from an old radio! the capacitor should look like an amunition box. You add a phase by doing this.... to this new phase you connect through a capacitor to one line, and to the other line through the inductor! and you have instant three phase.... OR you could buy an "add-a-phase" I have never actually worked on one, but it's there.... it's there!!
